Terms of Use
Last Updated: January 15, 2025
Welcome to Shrktool. By accessing our educational platform and resources focused on operating system security, you're agreeing to these terms. We've kept things straightforward because nobody enjoys reading legal documents that sound like they were written by robots. That said, these terms matter for both of us.
Acceptance of Terms
When you use shrktool.com or participate in our learning programs, you're entering into an agreement with us. If something here doesn't work for you, we'd rather you reach out to discuss it than proceed with reservations. These terms apply to all visitors, students, and anyone accessing our materials.
We update these terms occasionally when our programs evolve or legal requirements change. You'll see the revision date at the top of this page. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised terms.
Educational Services
Shrktool provides educational content and training focused on operating system security. Our programs aim to build practical knowledge through structured learning experiences. We're committed to quality education, but here's what you should understand about what we offer and what we don't promise.
Program Enrollment and Participation
Our learning programs typically begin in fall 2025 and spring 2026. When you enroll, you're committing to active participation. This includes attending sessions, completing assignments, and engaging with the material. We've built these programs based on years of industry experience, and they work best when students show up ready to learn.
Important: We don't guarantee specific career outcomes, employment placement, or salary levels. What we do offer is solid education based on current industry practices and the opportunity to build genuine skills.
Content Access and Materials
Course materials remain our intellectual property. You can access them during your enrollment period and for a reasonable time afterward for personal learning. Sharing login credentials, redistributing materials, or reselling access violates these terms and honestly just makes things harder for everyone.
User Responsibilities
We expect certain behaviors from everyone in our learning community. Most of this should be obvious, but we're spelling it out to avoid confusion later.
- Provide accurate information during registration and keep your account details current
- Maintain the security of your login credentials and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access
- Use our platform and resources for legitimate educational purposes only
- Respect intellectual property rights for all materials and content
- Engage respectfully with instructors and fellow students in all interactions
- Complete any payment obligations according to the agreed schedule
- Follow technical security guidelines when working with system security exercises
The security training we provide involves working with real systems and tools. Using these skills or knowledge for unauthorized access, malicious purposes, or illegal activities is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate termination and legal action.
Payment Terms and Refunds
Program fees are outlined during the enrollment process. We try to keep pricing straightforward without hidden costs. Payment schedules depend on the specific program, and we offer some flexibility for students who need it.
Refund Policy
If you withdraw within the first two weeks of a program, you're eligible for a full refund minus a small administrative fee. After that initial period, refunds are prorated based on the portion of the program you've completed. We handle each situation individually because circumstances vary.
If we need to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment or other circumstances beyond our control, you'll receive a complete refund or the option to transfer to a future session.
Intellectual Property Rights
Everything on our platform belongs to someone. Course materials, videos, written content, software tools, and the platform design itself are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We've invested significant time and resources developing these materials.
You can use our materials for personal learning during and after your enrollment. You cannot reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works without written permission. If you're interested in using our content for something beyond personal study, just ask. We're often open to collaboration.
Privacy and Data Protection
We collect and use personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. That's a separate document worth reading if you care about how your data gets handled. The short version is we collect what we need to run the programs effectively and don't sell your information to third parties.
For students in our programs, we may share your work with other students as part of collaborative learning exercises. We'll always be transparent about when and how your work might be shared within the learning community.
Platform Use and Restrictions
Our platform is designed for education. Some behaviors can disrupt the learning experience for everyone or pose security risks. Here's what not to do:
Prohibited Activity | Why It Matters |
---|---|
Attempting to access unauthorized areas of the platform | Compromises security for all users and violates trust |
Using automated tools to scrape content | Creates technical issues and violates intellectual property rights |
Sharing access credentials with others | Violates enrollment terms and creates tracking issues |
Uploading malicious code or harmful content | Poses security risks to the entire learning community |
Harassing or threatening other users | Creates hostile learning environment and may be illegal |
If we detect prohibited activities, we'll typically reach out to discuss it first. Serious or repeated violations may result in immediate account termination without refund.
Disclaimers and Limitations
We provide our educational services and platform on an "as is" basis. While we work hard to maintain quality and reliability, we can't guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free operation. Technology fails sometimes, and when it does, we'll work to fix it promptly.
Our programs prepare students with practical skills in operating system security, but we make no warranties about specific employment outcomes, salary levels, or career advancement. The job market depends on many factors beyond our control, including your effort, prior experience, local market conditions, and economic factors.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shrktool is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our platform or participation in our programs. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the specific program in question.
Account Termination
Either party can end this relationship. You can close your account anytime through your account settings or by contacting us. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, though we'll typically try to resolve issues through communication first.
If we terminate your account for cause, you won't be entitled to a refund. If you voluntarily withdraw, the refund policy outlined earlier applies. Upon termination, your right to access the platform and materials ends, though we may retain certain information as required by law or legitimate business purposes.
Modifications to Services
Educational content needs to evolve with technology. We update our curriculum regularly to reflect current industry practices and emerging threats in operating system security. Sometimes we add features to the platform or reorganize content for better learning outcomes.
We'll notify enrolled students of significant changes that affect their current program. For prospective students, the program description at the time of enrollment is what you're signing up for, though minor adjustments may occur during the program period.
Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of New Jersey, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
Before filing any legal action, we ask that you contact us to try resolving the issue informally. Many disagreements can be worked out through straightforward conversation, which saves everyone time and money.
Miscellaneous Provisions
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision doesn't constitute a waiver of that right.
These terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Shrktool regarding use of our platform and services. They replace any prior agreements or understandings.
You cannot transfer or assign your rights under these terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations to another entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
